Current events through the light of the papal encyclicals.
My name is Christopher Colantuono, and this is the Geowizdom Podcast — coming to you from Middle Island, New York.
Every week I take the geopolitical story everyone is arguing about — war, power, education, the collapse of the social order — and I read it the way almost no one in media does today: through the two-thousand-year moral tradition of the Catholic Church, and specifically through the papal encyclicals that named these crises decades, sometimes a century, before they arrived
When Pope Saint Pius X warned about Modernism in 1907, he wasn't writing history. He was writing a prophecy. When Pope Benedict XV named the four sins tearing society apart in 1914, he was describing 2026. This show exists to make that connection plain — to show that the answers to our most modern problems were written down long ago, and forgotten.
I don't do outrage. I don't do partisanship — as I say often, the two parties are frequently just two dirty wings of the same bird. What I do is take one encyclical, walk you through the history and the theology, and then bring it crashing into the present. History, principle, application. Every episode.
If you believe the crisis of our age is at root a spiritual one — a crisis of authority, of family, of what a nation is for — then you are in the right place.
The Mission
To restore the papal encyclicals to public conversation as living guides to geopolitics and civic life — and to give faithful Catholics, and anyone who respects the tradition, the intellectual tools to read the news through the mind of the Church.
